Welcome!  I teach violin students at my studio in Milwood Neighborhood, in North Austin near the Domain.

I aim to help each student develop a personal connection to the violin.  I believe this is achieved through setting challenging goals, having focused and consistent practice sessions, and learning to make mistakes and recover from them.  This empowers students to take ownership of their progress, develops confidence, and makes learning and practicing enjoyable and rewarding.

I have been fortunate to study with world-renowned violin pedagogues Almita and Roland Vamos, Kathleen Winkler, and Julia Bushkova.  My teaching is a reflection of this lineage, and is heavily influenced by Galamian principles and the Russian school of violin playing.  Additionally, I studied Mimi Zweig’s Suzuki pedagogy with Zweig’s assistant in Chicago, and incorporate some Suzuki philosophy and repertoire into my teaching.

My students frequently win first chair positions in their school orchestras and Austin Youth Orchestras, receive top scores in UIL State and Region Solo and Ensemble, and place highly in the Middle School and High School Region and All State orchestras.
